Draw-and-Speak: Using Visual and Multilingual Storytelling in the Classroom

Description: This session explores Draw-and-Speak as a classroom technique that combines visual storytelling with language development. It considers how drawing can support learner expression and ease speaking pressure while offering practical ideas for using this approach to encourage communication and connection in the classroom.
Bio: Pamela has a B.A. in English and a Master's in TESL from the University of Alberta. She has served on the Board since 2024 as the Edmonton Local Co-Chair.
Since then, she has worked for numerous schools and organizations, including CCI-LEX, Solomon College, NorQuest College, the University of Alberta, and ECSD. Her passion lies in volunteer work; she previously instructed LELL for PALS and currently volunteers at the Africa Centre alongside her Board duties. She is dedicated to using the skills she's developed over the years to give back to the community.
