Calgary Symposium 2026
Flourish: Wellness in EAL

Symposium Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026
Location: SAIT (1301 16 th Ave NW, Calgary, AB)
The Calgary Co-chairs are excited to invite ATEAL members, EAL community members, and service providers to submit proposals to present at our May 2, 2026 symposium, Flourish: Wellness in EAL.
The past couple of years have been challenging for both students and instructors in the EAL field.
This year’s symposium will bring together people from across our community to share ideas and practical strategies that enhance student and instructor wellness.
We are looking for presentations that highlight effective practices, new research, community partnerships, and creative approaches to wellness in education.
Since the theme of wellness in EAL is broad, we welcome proposals for a variety of wellness related topics including, but not limited to:
- Mindfulness
- Setting boundaries
- Counselling
- Confidence building
- Resilience
- Time management
- Emotional intelligence
- Growth mindset
- Working with students who have experienced trauma
- Building community support
- Dealing with stress
Presenters will have the opportunity to connect with fellow educators and community members, exchange ideas, and contribute to meaningful conversations about the future of learning in our community.
Proposal Closing Date: April 10, 2026
If you are interested in presenting, please submit a brief proposal that includes your session title, description, and presenter information.
To submit your proposal or learn more, please send an email to yyc.symposium@ateal.ca
We hope you will consider sharing your expertise and experiences with our community.
Your voice can help inspire learning, collaboration, and positive change.
